![]() ![]() It seems like it at the time, but because you don't have any information on what you are doing, you're basically trying things at random.Ĭompare that to, say, chess with a clock. It might feel like thinking on your feet if you suck at the game, like when you are new to fallout and you don't really know how anything works and something bad happens and you are like "ahhhh!" and you have to quickly figure out how to salvage the situation (or re-load) but even then. None of this is really thinking on your feet in the proper sense of it, imo. You understand what you have to do when X event occurs, then you just do it. You get the occasional time where everything fucks up and you need to think on your feet to save the day or whatever and narrowly avoid a 1% wipe, but for the vast, vast majority of your playtime in raids you're just going through the motions, reacting to things that are happening in the way you have trained yourself to react (arena may also suffer from this to some extent). I still maintain that it's essentially paper-rock-scissors (or at least used to be, not played since cata). I've never done a whole lot of arena so I'm not speaking from too much experience here, but it seems like arena may have a bit of thinking on your feet, though only a little. It's just standard videogame muscle memory stuff. ![]() None of which requires thinking on your feet. Combat is 100% just having a pointier stick than the other guy, and being able to kite. It's basically the same story as fallout except stealth is even more overpowered so it's not like you're ever going to be spotted anyway. You have a bit of thinking on your feet, I suppose, if you are trying to stealth through everything and you didn't /couldn't scout it out properly and you're like "oh shiiit there's a guy and I have to hide but where do I go" but eh, that's about it. The combat isn't something you have to think about, it's point and click, you just have to be accurate and fast, it's muscle memory stuff. There's a bit of "Should I go for the head or body shot in VATS" but again, that's done from a pause menu. There is some thinking involved with building your character the way you want etc but that can be done from the safety of a pause menu so not really thinking on your feet. How much 'thinking on your feet' is there in these games? Well, Not a whole lot, really. I've not played kingdom hearts so can't comment on that, but.įallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, Kingdom Hearts, WoW Let's actually go down the games you listed. It takes all the muscle memory and snap judgements out of it and just leaves it up to you out-thinking your opponent. ![]() Turn based stuff when done correctly means you have to think more. You can sit there for hours before deciding on a move if you like, but it doesn't mean you don't have to think. You don't have to "think on your feet" exactly, but. Or rather, I don't think being turn based makes it any worse, if it's done right. ![]()
